SCAM ALERT! As of 9/18/2023 - The Wentzville Liberty Band Boosters have been notified that a scammer on
Facebook has been fraudulently attempting to solicit fees from vendors interested in the Wentzville Liberty Holiday Bazaar.
How it works: The scammer will respond to comments from vendors interested in the craft fair on social media posts by telling them to direct message (“DM” or “PM”) them. Once you do, the scammer will provide a link to a Google Doc with a fake application, telling you to fill out the document and send them money via Venmo. They will ask for photo confirmation of the payment and repeatedly contact you until you have sent the money. The scammer has been using a fake profile with the name “Liz Higgins,” but could use a different profile or name, as well.
THE WENTZVILLE LIBERTY BAND BOOSTERS DO NOT AND WILL NOT
SOLICIT PAYMENT THROUGH PRIVATE OR DIRECT MESSAGES ON ANY TYPE
OF SOCIAL MEDIA. ALL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE BAND BOOSTERS
WILL BE MADE VIA EMAIL THROUGH firstname.lastname@example.org. ALL
